There are so many things to consider when preparing for your big day, and looking your best is a major one! A wedding doesn’t only mean happy memories—there will also be countless photos and videos, and with social media these are sure to be shared more than ever. Having your teeth whitened prior to your wedding will add that extra bit of confidence and sparkle to your smile on the big day.

Teeth Whitening Before Your Wedding

It’s important to schedule your teeth whitening at the right time to have your smile as bright as can be on your wedding day. You’ll want to make sure you schedule it ahead of time as well, as things tend to get hectic leading up to the big day.

One factor to consider is what whitening method you are using. There are several methods, including gel, toothpaste, whitening strips, and other professional methods. These vary in results and timing. Here at Sierra, we use the Zoom whitening system. During this treatment the teeth are coated in hydrogen peroxide gel. A specialized light is then used to break down the hydrogen peroxide, which allows oxygen through to remove surface stains.

This treatment takes about 60 minutes and is performed in 15-minute phases. You will want to schedule a consultation before the treatment, as the dentist will need to examine your teeth and gums to make sure Zoom is right for you. It is also recommended to have a cleaning performed immediately prior to the treatment.

After your Zoom treatment, you should still take precautions to keep teeth their whitest. This means avoiding food and drink that will stain or discolour your teeth, such as coffee, red wine, sweets, and sugary drinks. You should also avoid smoking! Your dentist may give you an at-home whitening toothpaste in order to maintain the effects of the treatment.

Your teeth should be several shades lighter following treatment, and if properly cared for, the results should last a while. Some people experience sensitivity during and after the procedure. This can last up to a few days. For this reason, you should make sure there is some time between your teeth whitening and your wedding day, as you don’t want to be in any discomfort at your wedding!

Teeth whitening is a great way to add that extra touch to your exciting day. Book a consultation with us today to see whether Zoom whitening is right for you.
