Whiter teeth are something we all aspire to. There is nothing quite like a fresh set of pearly whites to give your confidence a boost and to make a great first impression.

Options-For-Teeth-Whitening

Developments in the dental industry have led to the creation of many teeth whitening products, many of which can indeed remove years of staining and discoloration with consistent applications.

However, many others do not fare as well as their counterparts, at least as far as their claims to significantly whiter teeth in a short period of time are concerned.

Before you spend a ton of money on over-the-counter whitening products, it would be a good idea to evaluate all your options first. At Sierra Dental, we provide professional, in-office treatments.

The whitening agents we use contain stronger concentrations of hydrogen peroxide than anything you’ll find at the store, and can realistically whiten your teeth multiple shades in a single session. With that, here are the whitening options currently available.

Ways to Whiten Your Teeth…and the Ways That Work Best

Gels – These products are applied directly to the front of your teeth with a brush, and care must be taken not to come into contact with your gums. While not harmful, the gum tissue is often too sensitive for the whitening agents, and as a result, gums can become a little inflamed/sore. Applications are typically performed two times daily for two weeks, with the first set of results appearing in the days following the initial treatment. Whitening gels ensure notable results for up to four months on average.

Strips – These transparent strips are coated with a peroxide-based whitening gel (i.e. the same material used in the gel products noted above) and are worn on the teeth during the treatment period, which generally takes two weeks to complete with bi-daily, thirty-minute applications. The timing of the results and their effects of whitening strips are very similar to their gel counterparts.

In-Office Treatment – While this may be the most expensive option of the bunch, laser whitening treatments are guaranteed to provide significant improvements in an instant. At Sierra Dental, we apply a coat of especially concentrated whitening solution to your teeth, then activate its bleaching properties via a precision laser beam/light. This considerably accelerates the rate of whitening and is the most effective method available now.
