An implant-supported denture is a special type of denture that is anchored into place by dental implants.

Traditional Dentures vs. Implant Retained Dentures
Traditional dentures have to rest on these ridges. The shrinking of these ridges is known as resorption. Resorption is an inevitable process that begins when permanent teeth are lost. Without the stability of the tooth roots, resorption can continue until there is very little bone left, implants help slow this process.
Unfortunately, this is one of the main reasons why people have difficulty wearing traditional dentures and look to implant-retained dentures as an option. An implant-supported denture can only be used when a person has enough bone left in the jaw to support the implants.
Implant-supported dentures are most frequently made for the lower jaw because regular dentures tend to be less stable on the bottom arch. However, implant-supported dentures can be placed in the upper or lower jaw depending on the patient’s individual needs.

Just like traditional dentures, you should remove an implant-supported denture every evening to clean the denture and gum area.
